Demonstrators Support Free Gaza Flotilla

June 25, 2011 by Pete Rockwell Up to sixty people demonstrated to support the Freedom Flotilla II which has announced setting sail within the next few days. In spite of warnings from the Israeli, U.S., and Canadian governments, the flotilla, consisting of eleven vessels carrying 1000 people from 40 countries, will once again attempt to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza. The Israeli government has vowed to intercept the flotilla as it did one year ago, when 9 people were killed and 40 others were wounded. The demonstration was held in front of the tourist information center overlooking the inner harbor. People held signs and banners and listened to speakers who briefed the public on the situation in Gaza and the purpose of the flotilla.
