Part One: “Hometown Harm Reduction”
Harm Reduction is one of the City of Victoria’s seven strategic council priorities.
The City hosted a public forum in the council chambers on March 3, 2010 called “Hometown Harm Reduction”, which featured expert speakers an extended public question and answer period. (Watch/Read here)
Part Two: City Council Discusses Harm Reduction
The next day one of the experts returned to give a presentation to Victoria City Council members at a Governance and Priorities Committee meeting. (Watch here)
Part Three: Victoria Cop Told Not to Speak at City Harm Reduction Forum
This feature article looks at the decision made by the VicPD prohibiting an officer from speaking publicly about harm reduction. Includes interviews with representatives of the BCCLA (who have filed a complaint), the VicPD, and City Councillor Philippe Lucas, who hosted the event that the officer was scheduled to speak at. Part Four: City Councillor Suggests Police Get Harm Reduction Training
At the March 25 City Council meeting, Councillor Philippe Lucas made a motion to City Council requesting that ‘The Victoria City Council requests that the Victoria Police Board: consider passing a motion in support of harm reduction in principle and practice and consider initiating a strategy of regular harm reduction training for members and employees of the Victoria Police Department’.

Part Five: Harm Reduction Supporters Fill Council Chambers
On April 15, Harm Reduction Victoria helped organize community members to address City Council on issues related to harm reduction. Approximately 40 people spoke to council and made their suggestions on what they saw the City’s roll in reinstate harm reduction services could be. Harm Reduction Victoria called on Council to end the ‘no go-zone’ and establish safe consumption services.(Watch Here)

B Channel News traveled to Nanaimo to hear David Bratzer speak at the First Annual Nanaimo Cannabis Convention to hear Constable David Bratzer speak, and to bring you this video series.
