People started wandering into Bastion Square for the symbolic eviction of VANOC from
Victoria. As it happens I was standing next to one of the APC members who had been
arrested for evicting Ken Dobal (head of VANOC at the time) in Vancouver a couple of
years ago. “This must be dejavu all over again for you” He looked puzzled for a
couple of seconds, then laughed. He wondered how many would show up for this thing.
Maybe 200 people listened to speeches and took to the streets to the sound of
instruments and drums, some of them improvised. Maybe 300 people. The police
contented themselves with directing traffic for this un-permitted march and calming
irate drivers at blocked intersections.
Back at Centennial Square there were a couple of more speeches. The Olympics will
come and go. The Resistance will continue. Then everybody ate hotdogs and vegetable
pita bread sandwiches.
