Olenka and the Autumn Lovers

Rifflandia seems to have a talent for finding amazing artists who are not found on mainstream radio stations. This was definitely the case with Olenka and the Autumn Lovers. For this tour however, Olenka was touring minus the Autum Lovers. If you would have told me that a Eastern European / Country / Folk / Pop song would have stopped me in my tracks, I would have said you were crazy, but the vocals and acoustic stylings of Olenka did just that.
Olenka’s lyrics cover everything from social injustice to love. There is a definite sense of depth in these lyrics, possibly from personal experience. Olenka’s family fled Poland when she was just a young girl and since then she has not shied away from singing about political unrest, personal struggle and personal responsibility.
Adding to the depth is Olenka’s vast vocal range. Most songs stay in the mezzo-soprano range, but she really shines when she hits the high soprano notes. ‘Odessa’ a song on Olenka and the Autumn Lovers current album ‘And Now We Sing’, really displays Olenka’s strength at covering a wide vocal range.
Olenka is sound magic! Another score for Rifflandia.
